SOUTHEASTERN TO HOST 5TH ANNUAL ROOMIE’S MERRY MARKET

HAMMOND – Get ready to kick off the holiday season at Roomie’s Merry Market, a two-day festive shopping event hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University’s Lion Up Recovery program. This year’s market will take place at the Pennington Center, located at 1350 N. General Pershing St. on Southeastern’s campus.

The market is open Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is just $5 at the door, and lunch will be available for purchase both days through a partnership with the Lab School Dads.

Shoppers can select gifts from over 80 vendors featuring boutiques, cosmetics, gourmet foods, unique art, children’s clothing, festive décor and of course Southeastern themed merchandise—everything needed to start holiday shopping.

“Roomie’s Merry Market is more than just a kick-off to the holiday shopping season - it’s a vital lifeline for our LION UP Collegiate Recovery Program,” said Annette Baldwin, Roomie’s Merry Market chair. “Every ticket purchased directly supports scholarships and programming for Southeastern students in recovery, helping them achieve both personal recovery and academic success.”

Baldwin said shoppers won’t want to miss the photo opportunity with Santa and his elves Saturday morning that is included with admission. The Southeastern Community Music School will perform a holiday concert on Saturday at 11 a.m., setting the perfect seasonal tone.

“Be sure to check out the Kendra Scott give-back event, and arrive early—the first 600 shoppers will receive a free shopping bag,” Baldwin said.
